We decided we wanted to spend the Christmas and New Years holidays with family in Texas so we setup a trip on over towards there. This trip was particularly tight because we needed to have the flooring replaced in our slide out and we didn't get the RV back until the week we were supposed to leave so we were definitely a bit stressed on what we were going to ultimately do. Thankfully it did make it back and we were good to go on our trip

Route

The route we took was pretty straight forward really, straight up 75 until I-10 and then I-10 until Houston and then the Texas FTM roads until we got to Temple. The worst part of this trip is always going through Louisiana because the roads and drivers there truly are something else. I have this term I dubbed called the "Louisiana Merge." It is the only state I've observed it so consistently I just expect it to happen now.

A Louisiana Merge is when you merge onto the highway doing at least 25 mph less than the rest of traffic. You then merge in front of someone staying at this speed for as long as it takes the person behind you to change lanes and attempt to pass.

As soon as they do, speed up to go as faster than they are going to ensure they don't pass you.

Drives me absolutely bonkers.

Overall we achieved about 11.5 MPG on the truck while towing for the entirety of the trip which is a bit lower than I'd usually expect but not far from average of around 12.3.

Weather

The weather along the trip was all the fuck over the place. It was warm and sunny one day and cold and windy the next. I really don't know what else to say other than the weather was a damn mess.

Still, no snow or anything so.... it could have been worse!

Overall

Overall the trip went fine! Towing with the F-350 continues to be such a huge fucking improvement over towing with my old F-150 that I honestly don't even worry about tow days anymore.
